The betavine.mobi Emulator

Matt Hales Hi, I'm Matt Hales, and I'm the member of the Betavine Team who's been working on our mobile website. Seeing as we've got this clever little emulator tool, I thought I'd share some useful nuggets of information of what you can do.

betavine.mobi has been designed for small screens and to adapt content for different mobile devices. For example by browsing to the Applications page on a mobile device you are shown a list of all the platforms that are compatible with your device. Viewing the same page via a pc displays all the platforms allowing the download and transfer of any application to your phone.

When browsing betavine.mobi on a mobile device, the front page will display a Tech Info link, this can be very useful as it displays all the known information about your phone.

betavine.mobi was developed using the Java Spring Framework, this allows for a dynamic site that should render correctly on all browsers.

How To Get Betavine.mobi Link Sent To Your Phone

If you fancy trying out betavine.mobi on your mobile device then request a personalised link from the home page, this removes any painful process of manually signing in to the site from your mobile. You can also bookmark the link for future reference.

It's also an easy way to avoid typing in the URL from scratch on your mobile device!

Automatic Feedback for My Apps

One of the great features of betavine.mobi is the feedback mechanism. Once an application is downloaded the user is invited to leave a comment about the application and state if it worked or not. This feedback is automatically linked to the device that tested the application and displayed on the application profile page on the main site.

You can see this in action by going to one of the real applications pages on the site and looking at the reported feedback section. The app HealthyLife is a great example.
